I woke up this morning grateful for life and excited for the future. It feels like everyday is my birthday, but actually TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! I'm in a very reflective mood. I'm thinking about my father and what he was doing when he was my age. Wrapping my brain around being somebody's legacy and the responsibility it has. I'm so grateful for his example. I'm wrapping my brain around my own music legacy also and I'm grateful for the past, present, and future lessons I get from Master Splinta, formerly known as FatRat Da Czar! As a child something that was difficult for me to imagine was the future. I couldn't really tell you what I wanted to be when I grew up, but as I look back at some of my toys there were definitely signs. I'm not taking about my He Man action figures or my Ninja Turtles Pizza Thrower. I'm talking about all of the toys I had that involved pressing buttons that triggered different sounds. I had lots of noisemakers and low and behold all of my samplers and midi controllers at my disposal that specialize in making whatever noises I program or assign to each button. Interesting right? I know the musicians and producers reading this can relate. There are so many things that shaped my creative and business mind and the dots are connecting more and more. Everything in the past is for today and that's including the not so savory parts and percieved failures.
Well, today is beautiful and before I go out and enjoy it I just want to say thank you to everyone who has and will wish me a happy birthday. Each one has and will add to today's joy
